Chapter 21 - Jeans and Comfort

Izzy quickly throws on a pair of jeans and a plain white t-shirt before joining Carter in the living room. He is leaning against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as he waits for her. As soon as she enters, his eyes immediately roam over her body, causing heat to spread through her.

“Ready?” he asks, holding out his hand.

She hesitates for a moment before taking it. She can’t deny that Carter is drawing her in, and her brain is nonstop sending her warning messages.

They make their way to a small local restaurant that serves some of the best seafood in town. As they sit down at their table, Izzy can’t help but feel slightly nervous. Thankfully, though, the restaurant looks ordinary.

It also helps that Carter start talking to her about the pack, some of his missions, and his family, who've never really been present in his life.

Soon, Izzy finds herself being comfortable. There is a certain quality in his voice, the way his eyes light up, that somehow, begrudgingly, mesmerize
