Chapter 23 - Work Partners

Izzy takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what the alpha is about to say or react. Based on the knotting of his brows and the way his muscles tense, it is not good.

“What? Why not?” he asks incredulously.

Yet, she needs to say it. She can’t surrender her freedom just to become his Luna. She also never asked for the position.

“I never dreamed of becoming a Luna.”

“Do you have any idea that a lot of women have coveted the position? Now, I am throwing the opportunity at you. Don’t you think you are lucky?!”

Izzy stands her ground, refusing to back down even in the face of the powerful alpha’s anger. She knows that she is risking everything by going against his wishes, but she cannot let go of her principles and values.

“I am not included in the standards of those women, alpha,” she says firmly. “I am ordinary. I just want to live my life with no issues.”

“Just live outside your—” he starts to say before Izzy cuts him off.

“And I don’t want to do that.”

“Huh?” he asks, his ey
