My heart hummered loudly in my chest as Colton inched closer,his intense gaze on me. I gulped involuntarily. He softly pinned me against the wall and my eyes shuttered close. I gulped again and flickered my eyes open. Colton was uncomfortably close that I could almost feel his toned body against me. 'Is he going to kiss me?' I thought and my heart skipped a beat. His warm breath was fanning my face and I sucked my lower lip,an action that didn't go undetected. If anything, his gaze darkened and an unfamiliar emotion invaded his eyes. He trailed his eyes down slowly burning into every inch of me, making my stomach clench.
"Colton.." I whispered stepping back but I realized my back was against the wall. "Wh- what are you doing?" My breathing shallowed at our close proximity,the air around us becoming thick.

"Happy birthday, Isles." A low whisper dragged me out of sleep and I opened my heavy eyelids almost immediately. I was taken aback by the abrupt splash of sunlight filtering through the room and blinked several times to adapt to the sudden brightness. It was too bright for my liking. Ocean eyes. The kind of eyes that reminded me of someone in my past. Someone who had ripped my heart from my chest and crushed it under his boot with pleasure and mirth.
