24 Hours Earlier

Kade POV

Betrayal, anger,and heartbreak coursed through every fiber of my being. Evelyn lied to me. Not only did she lie, but also stole my heart in the process. I slammed the door to my office and threw the vase of flowers I intended to give Evelyn after my meeting with Ricci.

Glass of the vase shattered against the wall, sending glass, stems, and water all over the floor. My chest heaved as I braced myself on the side of my desk.

I heard the door open and quietly shut behind me. I knew it was Evan. “If you are going to give me some quick witted commentary, I am not in the mood.” I gritted out.

Evan leaned on the desk and looked down at my hunched form. He crossed his arms and sighed. “You know me better than that fratello.”

Brothe. One of the few words Evan had learned over the years. And he was mine, in every sense of the word.

“What do you want to do?”

I shook my head. “I have no fucking idea.” I stood up and scrubbed a hand down my face and sucked my lips
