I heard his voice saying my name, saw his terrified face imagining what happened to me, and then, just before the car could hit me in my deep sleep, I abruptly opened my eyes.

The scent of potent medicines filled my nostrils. I looked around, completely confused to be in that place when moments ago, I was on the road, chatting with Jack.

I sat up abruptly in the middle of the hospital bed, a saline bag connected to my right arm through a needle.

I felt a sharp, short pain in my head, but it was bearable. My chest heaved rapidly due to my accelerated breathing.

People in a much worse state than mine were around me, some sleeping, and others talking to their respective doctors.

I ripped the needle out forcefully to get off the bed and walk out without any issue, searching for Jack.

Why wasn't he by my side? What had happened exactly?

I took a few steps before feeling a dizzying swirl in my head, accompanied by the urge to vomit churning inside me.
