Mother's Worries

The air conditioner was blasting, and it felt like it was coming off a wave in the arctic.

Moaning in satisfaction, I slid back into the comfortable seat and enjoyed it.

“Can I talk to Brown?”

“Michael?” I sat up to blink wide eyes at him. “Why would you want to?”

“Your mother is worried about him. And I don’t like him.”

What else did she tell him?

“Jealousy?” I queried. Half joking. Half curious.

“Could be. But more likely I think he’s a creeper.”

“That’s valid.” I admitted grudgingly. “In my defense, I didn’t know that when I had a weak moment.”

“A few?” He glanced sideways at me. Suggesting it was more than once.

“Should’ve called me.”

“Think you’d have taken care of it, before you knew all this?”
