DAMON POV

'Why did you let her ride in the other uber?' Slade whines like a petulant child. His worry is running rampant through our connection.

'She wants space right now,' I snarl, tired of his questioning. 'That witch said something that rattled her to the bone.'

'I know,' Slade argues, 'that's why you should have gone with her; she needs us.'

'She does,' I agree with him, 'but we have to let her come to us on her terms. Elle was right. We need to start trusting her to make the best decisions for herself. She will be a Luna one day.'

'Fine,' he huffs before pouting in the corner like a child. 'But I swear to the goddess, if you let her sleep alone tonight, I'll make your life a living hell.'

'You've been doing that for the last five years,' I retort, 'I don't see how you can make it worse.'
