FORTY SEVEN – THIRST FOR REVENGE

I’m rummaging through my overnight bag, searching for my concealer brush when my fingers brush against a piece of paper.

Eyes narrowing with confusion, I pull out the paper and quickly run my eyes over it.

The piece of paper turns out to be a white envelope.

My nerves twist when I realise that it’s the envelope I found at Vanessa’s door the night I went to see Mason.

I turn it over and sure enough, “The Enchanter” is written boldly across it.

With shaky fingers, I tear the envelope open and pull out the white piece of paper. A picture flutters out and lands on the bed but I deliberately open the folded letter first.

I scan through it, my blood running cold with each word I read.

“I heard them that night. Their screams as the flames burnt their flesh to crisps.

His enforcer was there as well. He gave the order that the shops should be burnt down.

He knew your parents were in there but he still went ahead and approved that they should be burnt alive.
