Chapter Seventy-Seven.

“Oh my God”

Joan walked through the front door in a bid to fill her lungs with fresh air. Her hands ran through her hair the moment Leonardo had broken the news to her and it was as though all of a sudden she was short of breath.

“Hold on, for how long has this been going on?” Her voice was shaken, ridden with guilt as her arms fell to her hips. “It’s been three weeks” He replied. “Do you have any idea where she could have gone?” He asked and she humphed, needing more than a few minutes to process what she had just been told.

“If she’s with you Joan just tell me” Leonardo felt because of her silence, perhaps she was hiding something but she shook her head. “She can’t be with me, Leonardo” She gritted, the winds drying the tears that wanted to fall from her eyes and she heaved a deep breath.

“Where are you?”

Joan pushed a hard lump down her throat before she replied. “I’m very far away, Leonardo” Turning her head to the door she’d walked from, she continued and even Leonardo didn’t hav
