Forgiveness is a sin, mate.

“Why did you kill her?” she speculates, terrified. “She did absolutely nothing.”

“She did everything wrong, my darling queen,” I mumble as I attempt to grab her.

“She didn’t,” she bemoans. “I killed her. I am the reason she died,” she says, falling to her knees and sobbing uncontrollably. She cries so hard that my heart hurts. If I know she will be unhappy, I will not murder her. I’m simply annoyed because she let my mate escape and dressed half-naked to seduce me.

“Look here, mate, you are not the reason she died; she deserved to die. Why did she seduce me and want to be my wife?”

“You won’t understand,” she bellows. Why is she so upset over her death? She should be the one to murder her for attempting to take me away from her. Why is she so depressed over her cheap death?

“I am the cause of her death. If... only I,” she says solemnly. “She may not have died if I didn’t make a deal with her.” What does she mean? What bargain did she strike with her?
