The day after tomorrow, I was strolling down the hallway with Amanda and Emma on both of my sides. They were babbling about their experiences in Kingsley so far while I kept quiet, planning my next move to get ahead of Lindsey.
The atmosphere at our house wasn't really great. I could feel the coldness of Mom and Dad towards me and the way they were giving Lindsey all their attention as if to make me realize what I was missing after disappointing them. I was certain Lindsey fed some lies to them so she would look like this angel when she was worse than Satan himself.
I wasn't even sure if I should be staying in a toxic environment at home. It was making me detest my existence. Just by thinking about what was going on with my parents and me right now bothered me.
I felt a hand suddenly grabbed my forearm as I drifted from my thoughts. Looking at Emma who was now staring at me, weirded out by my silence, I pulled my hand away
"Where's Amanda?" I asked Emma as she joined me while I walked outside the school."She left early. She said it's urgent," she answered and I nodded in response."I'm going on a date today," I budged, causing Emma to stare at me with a huge smile on her face."Wait, with who?" Her tone was filled with enthusiasm."Mason.""As in Mason Walker? Captain of the football team?""Yup," I said, sounding apathetic."I don't see you laid eyes on him.""I'm gonna try. He seems like a good guy.""You're not using him to get over Liam, are you?""No, Emma. Why would you think that?" I gave her a scowl, quite teed off at the mention of his name.Liam was already fine, and I guess it was also the perfect time for me to get over what happened between us. I wasn't trying to forget about him either; he bec
She was the purest kid I had ever encountered, and her little giggles were like a melody in my ears. Children rarely approached me, never had this moment ever struck my mind. And I was caught off guard when she suddenly appeared. It made me feel special. But nevertheless, this was the most adorable thing. When I was about to lift the toddler up, I woman called from behind, shaking me out of my thoughts."Dorris," she called, worry filled her tone. She immediately went beside us, and I flitted my eyes up before I stood. The woman, who I think was the mother, lifted the toddler up and embraced her tight. Her gaze landed to me, plastering a look of appreciation as her eyes glimmered."Your daughter is the most adorable kid I've ever met," I complimented, a huge grin crept across my face."Thank you so much. She's randomly talking to strangers and I'm glad she's not hurt." She rocked the toddl
Just when our lips were about to collide, a phone suddenly rang and I was guessing it was Mason's; I left mine inside the car. The anticipation I had vanished, and he quickly pulled away from me. Slipping his hand in the pocket of his slocks, he pulled his phone out and answered the call.I didn't actually plan to kiss Mason on our first date, I just thought that I should go with the flow and see where it would lead. I found him hard to resist, and if I instantly gave in, then the thrill would be over and he wouldn't be anticipating it.After a few minutes, he'd dropped the phone and slid it back inside his pocket. Looking at me, he ran a hand at the back of his neck before he said, "Sorry for that."I could see him blushing while he was trying to look away from me to hide his face. Standing up, I took a deep breath one last time and admired the view in front of us."I think it's about time that we call th
My mouth went dry, and my heart clenched at the thought of what happened to Liam. Up until now, the capability of my parents continued to make me feel unsettled. They could do anything in just one snap, no hindrance nor hesitation. I expected them to be more reasonable, but with them doing that to the person I loved, I didn't know what I was going to think towards them. They'd stooped so low, why did they have to do that?I plastered a blank expression, a lump formed in my throat, as thoughts swirled in my head I almost felt dizzy."I'm sorry I told you this. I just can't bear hiding such a thing to you," Emma said, looking down at her fidgeting hands."Is Liam still in jail?" I asked, my voice almost cracked from the emotions surging in."Wait, what are you guys talking about?" Amanda interfered as her brows knitted together in confusion."Kourtney's ex." Emma shrugged, her attention was
The day went by and the presentation for the student council runners was over. After the impromptu speech I had yesterday, it honestly made me feel empowered. I delivered a precise message to everyone and didn't have a dead face while I speak. It was actually better than having a script that you already memorized because my speech sounded natural and not forced. They'd given me cheerful claps, so was the principal who I was casually glancing at while I delivered my speech.I was panting, as my hair swayed back and forth with every step I took. Beads of sweat were trickling down to my forehead, and my legs almost felt numb from the ceaseless jogs we took around the field. Amanda was behind me, trying to catch up with my pace as I drifted my thoughts to her. Stopping on my track, I glanced behind her and released a breath."How many rounds do we need to jog?" I asked as grimace formed on my face."About five rounds I think,"
She pulled my hair and I was trying so hard to lash out from her grasp. My head began to throb, as I noticed the cheerleaders crowding around us. Amanda pulled me away, but since this bitch was clutching my hair tightly, it made it impossible. Some of them didn't stop Melissa, instead, they cheered for her as if they were enjoying what was happening."Get off me!" I exclaimed, pushing her away because I couldn't grab her cornrows to make her suffer the same."You asked for this," she responded through gritted teeth. My heart was pulsating rapidly, and I could feel the heat gushing through me from anger. I was grimacing in torment, but I couldn't do anything but clasp her hands and tried to shove her away. I was tired and weak after the training, that's why I didn't have the strength to fight back."Stop it, you guys." Amanda was holding my shoulders, and she was helping me to get away from Melissa.
Warning: There's sexual content in this chapter.~*~My mouth almost gaped at the sight of him being here, and the thought of the embarrassment I would get myself if he knew that I was put in detention caused a lump to form in my throat. Gulping, I flashed a smile as he started to approach."Mason," I greeted. "I was just um . . . looking around this place. Why are you here?" I returned the question to him."This is my secret spot," he answered, as his eyes roamed around the area."This is a dirty ass place." I chuckled, crossing my arms above my chest. "Why did you choose this as your secret spot?"His gaze landed on the area behind the humongous bookshelf."There's a console over there." He pointed a finger at the area he was looking for."Like, a gaming console?""Yup."
I quickly hooked my brassiere and grabbed the blouse on the ground. Getting off of Mason whose eyes were widened from the sudden interruption, I went to the corner of the bookshelf and slid my blouse back on. I buttoned it up, and after I'd fixed my clothing, I darted a look at Mason. He was raking his tousled hair to its place and tied it up again to a bun. He crouched on the ground, fixing the console and turned off the television. Heaving a sigh of relief, I placed a hand on my forehead and comprehend what happened. What the hell just happened? I asked to myself and quickly pulled out of my haze. We almost did it here, in this area, and I was letting him. I didn't regret any of the things that happened, I just wasn't fond of ending it this way. I was drenched with sweat, and my lips were soaked because of that heated make-out session.I tried to fix my hair back to its place and wiped my mouth with my blouse from the mes
