Chapter Twenty-Two
"Shall we go?" Asked Ralph with a faint smile playing on his lips. Raven nodded and followed him out of his room, acutely aware of the marks that he had given her. What would granny and Jane think? The table was laid out and granny and Jane were giggling away when they reached the dining room. Ralph turned and placed his hand on the small of her back and led her to a chair, drawing it out for her. Raven thanked him and sat down with him beside her. Granny and Jane had smug expressions on their faces.
"Why don't you try the crab croquettes, Raven. Jane makes them really good," suggested granny.
"Yes, granny, I'll taste everything, " she said, helping herself to the food.
"So, did Roo propose yet?" Asked granny with a grin.
"Yes, I have granny, " lied Ralph with so much ease that Raven forgot to chew the food in her mouth. Why did he have to lie? She was okay being just a girlfriend.
