A hot reminder

Henry fought back a smile as he detected the annoyance in Eleanor’s voice. She was trying to sound casual, but it was not working.

Even the look on her face was giving her feelings about his revelation away.

“Nothing happened between us,” he told her. He stepped over to her and stood behind her, then placed his hands on her shoulders. “The alliance did not happen because I did not want to marry her. I only wanted to be with my destined mate. You.”

Eleanor’s body visibly relaxed beneath his touch. “Oh,” she replied, as if she was still trying to hide the effect his words had on her.

“My father was angry,” he continued. “He said I was throwing away our pack’s future because of my stupid romantic ideas. He said my mate was probably dead and asked if I would remain unmated if I never found her.”

“What did you tell him?” she asked softly.

“Yes. I told him I didn’t want anyone who wasn’t her.”
