CHAPTER 55.

Reene

She averted her gaze, and got up. "Nothing, I said nothing."

My heart was racing, although my outward demeanor was calm. She had addressed herself as my mother.

I stared hard at her, my breathing harsh. "Is there something I should know?"

She didn't respond, however I saw her gulp nervously. A thick silence descended. So thick, that I felt I could cut through it with a knife.

"It's time, Zemirah." I didn't know Alpha Aurel was still present in the room, until he spoke again.

Confused, I looked at my mother. "What are you guys talking about?"

She didn't respond, but instead heaved a sigh. "Come with us, Reene dear."

And this time, I didn't bother lashing out at the name. Since I might as well find answers soon enough, there was no need to.

They led me out of the room, Alpha Aurel at the front. Once we were outside, my jaw hung open. Designed like a cathedral, it had lots of rooms. As we walked father, I gave up on counting. There was no way I'd get used
