Chapter 1

"Miss Ivy? Sir Louis has arrived," her secretary said.

Ivy smiled at her then waved her hand to dismiss her. Her secretary Lina, bowed at her before she left the office silently not bothering to look at her boss because of fear that made Ivy smiled a bit.

Ivy is not a friendly person nor a bubbly one. She maybe kind and generous. But no one would dare abused her. She even still remember a one event that she attended. Her Auntie Monique told her that if she have a soft heart, someone might abuse her kindness that even made her burst to laugh.

She's wrong. No one would dare to do that to her. She is Ivy, and she won't let others to ruined and bully her.

Ivy stand up from her chair and walk gracefully at the door. As she opened it, the scent of him runs through her nostrils that made Ivy to smile automatically.

"Hi honey, flowers for you," a young handsome man said.

Ivy accepted his bouquet flowers and smelled it. A fresh flower rose scent that made her calm smoothly. Rose is her favorite flower because it stand for love, and power.

She opened the door widely and walk in her table and replace the flower in the vase. She throw the old flower rose in her trashcan under the table.

Ivy looked at her boyfriend, they're together for almost 3 years now. And all she can say is that she's so lucky to have him. She's happy and contented, he is a caring and sweet man. He always make her happy everytime she's down and hopeless. And she's thankful to God for giving her a great man like him.

He's the reason why Ivy is in that position now. He is her inspiration as Ivy reached her goals in life and she couldn't wish for more.

"Louis? When will we get married?" Ivy asked him as she hug him from the back. The man stilled because of her question.

A minute had passed he didn't made a response that's why she set him free from her hugs and look at his eyes directly.

"What's the matter?" she can't help but to ask and feel anxious.

This is the first time that she's feeling this way. Why didn't he respond? Did she asked a wrong question?

"Louis? Hey!" She snap at his face that made him startled.

"W-what is it hon?" Ivy looked at his eyes intently as if she was looking for something. Her brows knitted because she know that there is something wrong with him. She didn't removed her gazed at his eyes but after a while Luis looked into the others direction like his avoiding her gazed, feeling guilty. For having a long relationship with him, she already know him so well.

And this time he's hiding something from her. Ivy wanted to ask him if something is bothering him but she didn't. Instead she just make an another topic.

"By the way. Viana, told me that we will be having a party later. I don't know why." Louis just nodded.

Ivy turned her back at him then walks in her chair and sit. She's the CEO at her father's company. Her father let Ivy managed their company because she's the only daughter. Although she had a half sister but Vivian is still too young to manage it.

He married another woman when Ivy was still seven years old. Her Mom died when she gave birth to Ivy. At first Ivy was so happy because finally she will have a new mother that can take care of her but her step mom is a hypocrite and a gold digger. Her step mom did everything to make her life a living hell. So Ivy decided to lived at her Auntie Monique's house. One of her mother's cousin.

She study so hard because Ivy want to be a successful woman someday. Her life is in peace in collage days until her father appeared in front of Antie Monique's house.

He kneeled and beg at her to go home because he needs her daughter. He told her that he's getting weak and he needs her to be the successor of their business.

Ivy even ask him why her and not her half sister Vivian. He just said that Vivian can't handle it because she's still young lady that's why she became the CEO.

She faced Louis, he's talking to someone in his phone right now. She saw how Louis smiled that made her think, because he never smiled at her like that. His smile is different from the smile he always show in front of her.

Who is he talking to? Why does he smiled and laughed so genuinely? If she didn't know him very well enough she would really think that he is cheating behind her back.

Ivy shaked her head to stop herself from thinking a negative thoughts towards her boyfriend. Ivy knew that he won't do that because he loves her and she loves him too.

Actually Louis is her fiancee for almost 2 months now. He proposed after the new year celebration.

That time she felt sad because Louis didn't visited her at her father's house but when she was about to go inside the house she heard a sound of a helicopter coming closer that's why Ivy run back and look outside.

She saw with her own eyes how they drop a white cloth with a light bulb that forms into words on it from the helicopter. A bulb that made a words and that is 'WILL YOU MARRY ME?'

Ivy was shocked that time and her tears started to fall as he goes down in the helicopter using a gear and a rope.

He kneel in the ground and pick something in his pocket. Ivy covered her mouth to stop herself from shouting as he showed a small box at her. He opened it slowly until she saw a beautiful ring inside on it.

Now she can't still forget that wonderful night. It's still clear in her memories as she said yes to him. 

Ivy looked at her hand and then she smiled as she saw the ring he gave that night.

"Honey? I will go now, I will be having a meeting with one of my client." She came back to her senses as she heard Louis calling her many times.

Ivy look at him smilingly after she nodded. He kissed her at the forehead before he stormed out in her office.

Ivy waited for him to close the door. After she heard his footsteps walking away she grabbed the telephone her table and dialed someone's number. She heard a three beep before someone answered it.

"Hi! I'm secretary Hannah Lim, in Yelton company. How may I help you?"

"Hannah, It's me. Ivy,"

"Ow, it's you Ma'am Ivy. How may I help you?" 

"Is Louis have a meeting this day?" Ivy played her long curly hair as she waited Hannah's response.

"No Ma'am, actually he said that he will have a 5 days off. Why Ma'am?" 

Ivy don't know why she felt a pain in her chest. Did he just lied to at her? He said that he will be having a meeting with his client. Is Louis saying the truth?

"Hello? Ma'am Ivy?" She came back into her senses as Hannah called her name many times.

"Thank you, Hannah,"

"You're welcome, Ma'am Ivy,"

Ivy ended the call then put the telephone back. She massage the bridge of her nose thinking who Louis will meet up today.

After she think a little bit Ivy decided to follow him. She need to know who he will meet. Who's client it is.

"Lina? I'm leaving. If someone find me tell them that my schedule is full and can't talk to them right now," Ivy said to her secretary who is talking over the phone. 

Ivy was about to turn her back when Lina grabbed her hand.

Ivy looked at her confusedly and raise her eyebrows asking why Lina stop her.

"M-ma'am Ivy, your Mother just called." Ivy's brow knitted as she heard what Lina said. What's wrong with that old woman again?

"How many times do I need to tell you Lina that she is not my Mother and she will never gonna be my Mother," she said in a serious tone.

Lina bowed at her as if she's saying sorry on her boss. Ivy just sighed out of frustration. That woman always annoyed her everytime she have an important thing to do.

"What does she want this time?" Ivy ask her directly. She can't delay her time here.

"S-she said that Mr. McGregor, had a heart attack this morning. They're in the hospital right now,"

"What! Why you didn't tell me earlier!" When she was about to answer her boss Ivy raised her hand to stop Lina from saying her reasons.

She closed her eyes, and breathe in and breathe out to make herself relax and calm. She need to calm down on this kind of situation because anxious won't help her to fix her own problems.

Ivy looked at her with a calm face so that she won't scare her off.

"What is the name of the hospital?" 

Lina grabbed something in her table and gave it to Ivy, it's a piece of paper. Ivy looked at the paper and she saw a hospital name there and also the address where it can be located easily because it's the nearest hospital from her Father's house.

Ivy nodded at her. Lina bowed at her boss before Ivy turned her back at her. Ivy walk gracefully in the hallway of her father's company. She even saw her employees made a bow as they saw her, their boss.

Ivy didn't mind them because she don't have enough time to entertain them right now. She just walk straitly towards the elevator and go inside.

Ivy pressed the basement button. She's alone in this elevator because it's a VIP elevator. Her father did this because he doesn't like to be with his employees. He said that it will consume much of his time if he tag along with his employees who stop into each department.

As she heard the sound of the opening, Ivy goes out. She looked around searching for her own car.

After Ivy found her red porque car she didn't think twice to get inside and turned on the engine. She drive the car out of the basement of the company. 

Minutes passed she arrived at the location of the hospital that Lina give. It's a big building because this hospital is popular as the rumors said. 

Ivy walk at the front desk and there a nurse greeted her. She just smiled at her then ask what she came here for.

"What room is in patient, MacGregor?"

"Wait a minute Ma'am let me check." I nodded.

The nurse type something in a computer system before she face her again. 

"Room 48, Ma'am." Ivy smiled at her before she leave and walk towards the elevator.

She pressed the number 48 and wait inside. As she heard the beep she quickly moved outside. There she saw her step Mom who is sitting at the waiting area. Ivy just give the old woman a cold stare. She can't help it, she's really mad at her step Mom. Because of that slut she lost her father's attention.

If her father didn't marry that kind of woman her life won't be so hard instead her life will be fine. 

"I-Ivy. Y-your dad." Ivy can't help but to roll her eye balls as she heard the voice of her step mom.

"Ow come on, Carla. You better stop your act. It's so disgusting," Ivy said that she event act like she wanted to vomit.

The woman made a mad gaze at her.

"You're still the same Ivy. You still don't respect me," the woman said sarcastically.

"Respect? Nah you don't deserve my respect mother," Ivy emphasize the Mother to let her know that she hate her to calling her a mother.

Never in her life she would respect this woman who made her life difficult. She knew that she's being a disrespectful towards the second wife of her father but she can't help it.

This woman doesn't deserve the word respect because she's a gold digger. She just married Ivy's father for money. 

And now this woman is happy because her husband is dying. If that happens only Ivy will be left to manage the company and it's just easy for her to let Ivy vanished in this world. She did many things before and now her goal is only a little bit to reach then she won't stop until she succeeded to get the company and become rich.

"Remember this Carla. If my father died, I won't give you even a centavo. So better pray that my Dad won't die or else your wonderful life will be gone, forever," Ivy said before she walk inside the room where her father is.

The woman gritted her teeth and clinch her fist. She's really mad at Ivy because she's the person who is blocking her way.

A smile formed in her lips as she remembered what Vivian told her. 

"You won't last too long Ivy."
