KAI’S POV

"Please, please, please, let her be okay," I muttered under my breath as I paced the clinic lobby, my anxiety reaching new heights. I glanced at Alana, who was standing still as a statue, her face mirroring my worry and anguish.

Her eyes, typically bright and full of life, now appeared dim and filled with fear. The only sounds permeating the air were the grunts and cries of other pack members, each awaiting their turn to be attended to.

My restless feet came to a halt when the door opened with a creak, and Healer Marcus came out, looking pale and exhausted. Alana and I rushed to him, bombarding him with questions.

"How is she?" I asked, my voice trembling. "Is she going to make it?" Alana added, her voice just as panicked.

He shook his head, his face etched with worry. "Not good, Alpha. She's not responding as I had hoped. Maybe you should go in and talk to her. Maybe she'll hear you."

Disappointing. Kai’s is so whipped and easily controlled by women. His mother should’ve seen his suffering and encouraged him to go after his family long ago. Good riddance. He keeps admitting to himself that he was stupid. Can’t fix stupid. Afraid this isn’t salvageable.
