Alana’s POV

I felt a dull ache in my head as I slowly regained consciousness. My heart rate sped up when I realized I wasn’t alone. I could hear muffled voices around me, speaking in low tones.

“The cut on her thigh would heal without scaring her. Just a day or two, and she will be good to go,” someone said from across the room. It must be a healer, I thought to myself before relaxing against the extremely warm and soft surface.

I heard a relieved sigh, followed by another voice. “Alana has got to be the strongest woman I have ever met in my life.” I knew that voice; it always sent a pleasurable shudder through my core. “I just wish she didn’t have to go through any of it”

The heavy concern in Kai’s voice was enough to make me squirm, literally. He sounded worried and anxious, as if he were afraid of losing me. My heart melted at the thought that Kai never stopped loving me like I thought he had. It was always in his actions.
