Scarlet POV

I wave Noah goodbye as he dropped me off. The time is about 4pm and it’s actually not too late.

I slowly climb through the stairs, getting to the porch I hear a loud whimper after a second it reduces into a low cry.

I recognize that voice, it’s Jane. I push the door open and she is stunned, eyes widen as she quickly wipe the tears from her eyes.

“ Gosh.” My mouth fall open, throwing my backpack to the floor as I run to meet her on her bed.

“ Hey..” she sits upright, wiping her cheek.

“ Don’t even try to hide those tears. I saw them Jane. What is going on?” my brow knitted, swirling my eyes at hers in bewilderment.

“ I know you saw that.” She says calmly.

“ And what is wrong? Did Sam hurt you again? God, I’m going to fucking kick his balls.” I clench my hands in the air, seeing how reddish her face is and a bit swollen.

“ No, no. Sam didn’t do anything to me. I’m sorry you saw me crying, just hurt that my mom isn’t feeling alright.” She explains and takes her face away from
