Chapter Forty–eight    ~New Friends~

"Are you okay?" my father asked.

I kept staring at the kids cycling around the neighbourhood. "Uhmm."

"Are you sure?" he said.

"Yeah, I'm okay."

"The doctor said you need to rest. You should leave the terrace and get back inside."

"I've rested enough. I want to stay out here."

"Okay, if that's what you want." He pats my shoulder.

I meant it when I said I had rested enough. My thoughts weren't letting me be. It wanted answers and I didn't know when Zara was going to come back. What are they trying to keep from me?

"Dad, why aren't you and mother saying something to me?" I asked.

He raised a brow. "Something about what?"

"Zara? You? Mother? Alpha Roderick? How did I come to be here? Everything! No one is telling me anything."

"We're only following Zara's instructions," he said. "We are waiting for when she decides to tell you. We took you in because we wanted you and we love you. There are a lot of things she doesn't know about you but that doesn't mean she's not your mother.
