110 : Primal Surge

VERENA

The guttural growl that erupted from my throat. It sounds so primal, so foreign that it sends a jolt of shock through me. My body stiffens, as if recoiling from the noise that escaped me.

I didn’t mean to growl, it simply happened. A reaction I do not understand.

Elijah’s reaction, however, is far from what I expected.

A slow smile spreads across his face, a glint of amusement dancing in his eyes. “Looks like you’re getting more in touch with your wolf's instincts,” he says, his voice calm yet laced with pride.

My stomach churns, a knot of unease tightening my gut.

“I-is this bad?” I ask, a flicker of curiosity battling with my fear. The growl, the raw power it held–it felt both terrifying and exhilarating. Sure, Serena has made me feel a few things that are new to me. I had run through the woods more than I did in my entire life and hunted small animals. Even broke furniture in the house when I shifted.
