My heart thumps on reading his text.

‘I just asked. It was a hypothetical question.’

‘At least you know the answer now. I’m looking forward to fucking you again.’ His text reads and I feel a tingle rush down my waist and heat pool between my legs. My heart hammers against my ribs.

I stand before the mirror and with a practiced hand, blend the concealer into the skin of my neck, hiding the hickey successfully. I sigh in relief. Now, nobody will know.

Tiptoeing towards Ezra’s room, I find him nestled under the covers, sleeping peacefully. He is clutching his favorite action figure against his heaving chest. A soft breath escapes my lips as my gaze falls on the floor. Scattered Lego blocks lie strewn across the carpet. As usual, he forgets to clean them after playing with them.

My heart swells with relief while I pick them up from the floor and put them inside the toy box. It's a sign that he’s really back to his normal self, playing like he usually does. I am grateful that th
