Chapter 29: A CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Today is officially known as birthday-hangover day.

I should really stop using alcohol to solve my problems. Last night after Jeremy left and everything with Killian, I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want to think about my whole situation so I decided to drown my sorrow with a bottle of vodka.

Mustering the courage to text him, I thank him for bringing me home in my intoxicated state. It wasn’t my finest moment, and lately, there have been too many humiliating moments, all with one thing in common—alcohol.

My phone buzzes beside me, startling a relaxed Coco.

Kate: Hey sleepy head hope you remember Killian is taking Will to the Yankees game tonight. And you promised to be there, you better be at my place at six on the dot.

Six o’clock on the dot, and I’m knocking on the door dressed in my jeans, hoodie, and Converse. The door opens, and an excited Will wraps his small arms around my waist, hugging me real tight. He
