"Atticus!" I reached out and took hold of his arm, turning him around. He had tears in his eyes.

"Hey! Don’t tell me you're crying because you think you shouldn’t be siding with me," I tried to inject some humor, but he freed his arm, sat on the couch, and once again hid his face in his hands.

"Atticus! You're starting to worry me. Tell me what's going on?" I sat down with him and held his hands to uncover his face.

"I'm sorry!" He whispered, stealing glances from me. "For the things I did to you. The ---sexual stuff, the humiliation--I'm sorry!" He started crying like a child. Witnessing the Alpha in tears, sobbing while holding my hand, as if pleading for forgiveness, left me in shock.

It was a difficult moment. Just thinking about it made me look away for a moment, until I realized I had done worse to his sister.
