Chapter fifty three

CORA’s POV…

I placed my hand on my chest as I looked around. It was already late; what would I do now? I was feeling really scared, and the reason for my fears was simply not because I was all alone, away from the pack that was supposed to keep me safe, but because of the awful feeling of danger being around the corner.

I swallowed as I picked up my bag, getting off the floor. It wasn’t safe to just sit here; I had to go around. Perhaps walking around the bushes until I arrived at a safe place would be best for me. As I got up, I fell to the ground, and that was because of the pain in my legs.

I closed my eyes, pressing my lips tightly as I swallowed. I looked around. What happened to those nighttime guards? Why weren’t they here? I took a deep inhale as I rolled my eyes. Why would they be here? Cora was involved, after all.
