It was her birth week. The whole palace was preparing for the big day. Everyone in the whole kingdom was excited about it. After all, it is something big when the heir to the throne turns eighteen. Then, some of the royal duties and secrets will be shared with her. She will be slowly taking over the throne and by the time she turns 20, she would be ready to be crowned as queen. The other thing is, she will be hopefully finding a loved one, which is a big deal for them.

David pov “Mate....” she whispered back and visibly leaned into my touch, her lips slowly curving into a sweet smile. narrator. David was taken to the dungeons and locked up in a cell that was specially prepared for prisoners captured from war. The soldiers strapped each hand to the silver chains that were attached to the wall of the cell, which surprised them because it didn’t burn his skin as they expected it to. David was smirking at them the whole time. “Doesn’t this hurt him?” one of them murmured. “I wonder if this is real silver.” Another one replied, scratching his head in confusion. “Just strap him up. Silver or not, he won’t be able to get away from this.” One of them urged, making David's smirk grow wider. Laughing to himself, he sat on the cold concrete floor when they were done locking him up. David pov. “That hurt.” I muttered to myself as I leaned against the cold dungeon walls. These cells were colder and darker than the palace but with my wolf vision, I was able to see my surroundings. The cell was enough to fit in three or four inmates but there was just one chain on the wall. This cell was completely empty other than that. I suppose this was designed for the sole purpose of torturing their prisoners. The walls consisted of large bricks that seemed to have aged. I noticed small bugs and insects crawling across the floor and the walls. Some of them kept disappearing into small holes and cracks in the walls. The foul smell of the place, which possibly meant that this place had not been cleaned that often, made it difficult to breathe. I wrinkled my nose as I caught a whiff of a pungent smell. “Is that wolfsbane I smell?” I asked Finn.

Carol pov I loved how the sparks exploded each time our skin contacted. It gave me a weird sensation each time. Those sparks would tingle, giving a completely new feeling of pleasure to me, something which I had never felt before. Something I was already in love with. It was like a drug. With each touch, it only got better. I kept yearning for more. And after that brief kiss, I felt as if I wanted more. If that was what a simple kiss could do, I wonder what our marks could do to us. I suppose we would be inseparable. Perhaps that was the whole reason why daddy wanted me to find my beloved. Narrator Meanwhile down in the dungeon, David was left alone with Carol’s father, the vampire king. While the king contemplated on whether he really should talk to David, the last words his daughter left him with replayed in his mind. “Daddy. I love you so much. But.... David is my future. And if you speak with him, I’m sure that you will realise that he really is innocent. And if he suffers any more of those beatings, I promise you daddy, you will not see me again.” He could see how hurt and broken she looked. Her face, which was usually lively and joyful, was flushed and red with fury and the pain she felt from what had happened. Narrator David stared at king Richard. He was not surprised. In fact, he would expect those elders to do something stupid like that. King Richard studied David’s demeanour and realised that his courage was not wavering. He stood tall and proud and stared right into his eyes. There was not even a hint of deception in David’s baby blue eyes. His mouth was paused in a grim line while his eyebrows were wrinkled together in a deep frown. He didn’t look like someone who would try to deceive anyone. He expected David to scream and deny the king’s allegations. He wanted to see him protest against the injustice he had faced. At least he thought that David would voice his rights when he was locked upBut none of that happened, the vampire king felt his anger slowly dissipate. He knew David was being patient. King Richard sighed and continued with his little speech.

David pov I followed Carol’s father out of the dungeons and towards the palace. Euphoric feelings were making my heart flutter. It felt so good to know that I was no longer a prisoner, after being confined unjustly. Yes, I was retrained just for a few hours. And they were only able to do that because I let them. I could have easily broken free from their dungeon easily but I didn’t want to. I may be a powerful lycan, but still, it was painful when I was being beaten up. I never thought that my beautiful little gem would feel those beatings. I will never let anyone beat me ever again. I don’t want her to feel any pain. I want her to be pampered. I want her to feel loved. Because she deserved all the good things in life. After I was forced to leave my pack, I would have led my life thinking that I would never be loved ever again.
