Chapter 43

Elizabeth’s POV

When I saw the rogue jump toward Hogan, I feared losing someone important in my life. How I killed the rogue with my arrow was blurry to me. What mattered was that Hogan was alive.

“Hogan, are you all right?” I asked.

Hogan stood up, he said, “I am not.”

A strand of fear snapped in me when I saw his eyes shining in red. He seemed like he was really angry. It was still summer and was not even cold, and yet I got goosebumps. Intensely anxious if he was mad at me for interfering in his fight, I stood backward, about to ask him why. But his response was faster.

“And whose fault is this?”

As fast as lightning, he came to me. His face came in front of me, and Hogan’s lips were pressed against mine.

Thud.

The bow fell.

He pulled my face towards his with both hands, turning his head and digging his mouth into mine.
