Twenty one

Sydney's POV

Relief washed over me when Asher finally took the medication I went out yesterday evening to buy. He seemed well enough and I wanted to take him home before resuming work for the day.

It was just me and those two left in my room. Alexander and his mother wanted to give me some time to rest.

"Hey boys, you're going home today," I made known.

"But why?" Nick was the first to ask.

Quirking my brow, I answered, "Because both of you need to rest and I won't be able to come up here often to check up on you."

Asher shook his head, which both surprised and slightly annoyed me. Just a few minutes ago, he was making enough noise to wake the dead. He'd never behaved like that before. Yet, all he could do was shake his head when I needed him to talk? What kind of kid was this, please?

"Mommy, I can look after Asher," Nick proclaimed. His face was so cute. This would be funny if I wasn't boiling already.
