42-Kale is Alive

Ari’s POV

“Sweetheart,” Finch shakes me as I was enjoying very restorative, much needed sleep.

“Gravity,” I whine as I try to go back to sleep.

I hear him chuckle.

“Darling, your phone. It’s about Kale,” he whispers, holding my phone in front of me.

I open one eye and see the messages.

“Wait, Kale is alive?” I ask, reading the messages.

I pick up my phone and call Kale’s number.

“Hey, Baby,” Kale answers.

“Don’t call me, Baby,” I say. “But it is still good to hear your voice.”

“I had a lot of time to miss you,” Kale chuckles.

I look over at Finch, who I know can hear him.

“I’m marked and mated to Finch Conrad. I missed you, mourned you and everything. But the mate bond and him. Finch is amazing. He spent our whole first day together helping me mourn you. He talked to me and helped me. He won my heart, Kale, all of it,” As I finish, Finch is smiling at me and holding me.

“You sound like a woman in love,” Kale’s voice has a hint of anger. “I guess what we had wasn’t real.”
