58: What the heart wants

It hurt to leave Rachel crying on the sidewalk, but neither of us was in the right frame of mind to have this conversation. We were both overwhelmed by our emotions.

I drove aimlessly, my head a mess. I didn’t realize I had taken the road back to her house until my car stopped a few meters from Dana's home. The lights were off. I had an uncontrollable urge to see her again.

I had no choice but to climb through the window. It wasn’t difficult for a werewolf like me. In my mind, I imagined Dana and me eating together in bed while watching something. Maybe she needed a good meal with some company. There might be things I never thought I’d see in Dana, but we lived together for years, so I knew her a bit: I knew Dana wasn’t feeling well, so I came to rescue her.
