18. Ruin

After rushing out of Cameron’s place, I am now sitting in my car and steadily hyperventilating.

I kissed her, and I loved every second of it. The aftereffects of our kiss still lingered; the feel of her skin on mine, her soft hair and lush lips, the scent of vanilla ever-present. God, I’ve never felt so alive while kissing someone, my mind went blank, and my body became aware of her closeness.

I didn’t want it to end; I wanted to claim her ultimately and make her mine. But then reality set in, and I saw the kiss for what it was; me taking advantage of her sadness.

She doesn’t deserve that, not after everything she’s been through and especially not with someone like me who breaks everything he touches. It was a good thing I cut off the kiss; I had to… I just had to.

And yet, as I laid curled up in bed, my mind drifted to her again - the feel of her skin on mine, her touch, her soft lips and her body pressed
