Chapter Fifteen

Miracle's POV

Leonel's sister walked into the room, her purple braids disheveled and her eyes darting around the room. She ignored me and went straight to Leonel, sitting on his lap and laughing at some inside joke between them. I felt like a stranger, alone and out of place.

"Excuse us, Miracle, we'll be back," Leonel said before walking out of the room with his sister.

I sat on the bed, surrounded by luxurious furnishings and expensive decorations. Leonel's mum didn't like me. And why would she? I was nothing compared to the rich and snobby people that she knew. If only she knew who I truly was, then she would gladly endorse a freelancer for her son.

My head was pounding like a drum, and I couldn't take the pressure any longer. I kicked off my sandals and collapsed onto the bed, hoping to find some relief in the soft mattress.
