Bells dinged in the distance, the monotone causing my head to ache all the more. I pressed my eyelids tighter, hoping to find some sort of comfort but the reverse was the case. Immediately, tendrils of pain shot up, their meeting point being the centre of my forehead.

I couldn't take it. I didn't even know what I could and couldn't endure but one thing was for sure, if I remained like this, I'd have nobody but myself to blame. I realized my eyes were closed, that's why the world seemed dark and gloomy.

Not that they weren't anyway. Steeling myself for the big task ahead, I inhaled and exhaled before taking the next huge step of faith.

The moment my eyes flicked open, I concluded that was the worse decision I'd ever taken. Bright light bulbs glared at me, their light sponsoring the pain in my head.
