Tiles having fingerprints
Maya woke up to the sound of loud clattering coming from Xavier's room.
Scared and wondering what was the cause of him going into a fit, she quickly packed her disheveled hair into a loose bun and made for his room.
His door was open and his phone was on the floor. He cursed pushing his hair backward in frustration.
Before she talked herself out of it, she was already squaring her chest and walking up to him, and she was grateful she did because when he turned to face her, she didn't notice how his body made the casual loose navy blue hoodie he had on look like it was straight out for a male catalog designer fashion show.
Because more than his gorgeousness, the pain etched in his eyes scared the shit out of her.
"Mother." He mumbled and that was all it took to make Maya's transfixed figure move.
She didn't know what he was hinting a
Xavier: A Paradox"You know mum wanted to be a ballet dancer before she met him." Melissa stopped her story halfway, the smile on her face as she held onto Xavier's hand deciding to be a storyteller to reduce the anxiety just waiting and silence could bring. They all knew that the "he" was the reason why they were all huddled in a hospital's reception room while holding each other's gaze and hands. He who shouldn't be mentioned. "She'll tell me about how she had thought of being a part of a musical or something more Frenchly." She paused, her lips tilting into a smirk even as Maya laughed. "She really didn't know what she meant by Frenchly but all she had thought was pirouettes and ballet shoes well until she had met him." She shrugged her lips set in a tight line. "You know no matter how many times she told us the story as a bedtime fable while tucking us to bed, never ever using herself bu
"You know you could have run a long time ago, you do know that right?" Xavier's fists were clenched, his eyes stormy, his words iced as he took in the condition his mother was in. "Xavier, please no. At least not here." "Where else Melissa? When she is back to that scum of a husband." "He is still your father." Mrs. Salvador struggled to stand up, her face getting even more pale as she coughed. Maya rushed to her side, making her lie back down. "Please Ma, Don't stress yourself." "Oh my darling, you didn't need to stress yourself for me." Mrs. Salvador mumbled noting that Maya was in her pajamas. "Well she won't be if you don't have a fucking stab wound on your lower abdomen and the other injuries in your body, Darling Mr. Dominic dealt on you." "Oh dear, I feel so ashamed." Maya sat down next to her glaring at Xavier and hoping that was enough
His car was not in the lobby when she got out. She swore underneath her breath, rubbing both her arms simultaneously because of the chilly weather outside and how underclothed she looked in her pale pink nightwear. Still standing in the hospital's driveway, she ordered an Uber. She almost was about shedding tears when the Uber driver finally arrived. She entered the taxi and with her head down tried calling Xavier as she headed to the mansion. She had felt alarmed in her heart before it had happened right in front of her. Two masked men waited in ambush for them in a factory bus. All she could hear was cussing and for sight, her driver fidgeted. The passenger seat was opened and before she could even have the opportunity to scream, a hard hand was over her mouth and she felt the sting of a needle. She fell limp on the kidnapper's body and with her in
Maya woke up to absolute darkness and the murky smell of dust and dirt. Her hands and legs were numb. She didn't know how long they have been tied to the metallic chair she was sitting on. More than anything, she suppressed the overwhelming urge to scream help, rip her hair apart, cause drama, or any of the other stuff, victims in the Crime thriller movie she sees, usually participate in that just indicate to viewers they ain't making it out alive. Apart from not wanting to piss off her kidnappers, she didn't want them to have any idea that she was now awake. She looked around the desolate big room she have been left in. Apart from the smell of dust and abyss, she could also see cobwebs hanging on the wall and though she tried not to think of it, she knew that hairy insects and creatures thought her an invader of their home. She wondered if that will be her last day on Earth. If Xavie
"She is sleeping Xavier, don't wake her up." He turned, just noticing Melissa who sat opposite the VIP room Mrs. Salvador lied in, keeping a hawklike eye on it. He sighed and sat down next to his sister, hugging his body. "I messed up real good right?" She shrugged, "That's why you are Xavier. You always mess up. Maya has really signed up for the full package with her eyes open huh?" She raised her brow, giving Xavier a side glance. He knew what she was asking rather so politely. If Maya was well aware of the huge error of judgment she has made by choosing him as someone she will want to walk down the aisle with. Even his sister believed he didn't deserve her. "I shouldn't have come. This is why I stay away."She didn't reply. "You know when we were much younger. Growing up, I grew a bit jealous of you." She chuckled slightly, "I wa
"Don't you fucking tell me about rational okay?" His outburst made his assistant behind him cringe and the detective he was talking to frown. "Do you have a wife?" Dan the detective which had been highly recommended by Laura shook his head, confused on why that was necessary. "A child?" He shook his head. "Parents? Jesus, neighbors?" "I'd a neighbor, but she died during the summer." Xavier shook his head aggravated, a bitter smile on his face as he resisted the growing urge to hit his head on the desk in front of him, "Now I know why you had the guts to tell me to be rational. Fucking rational! Rational? What does that even mean." He hastily stood up and Timothy had to bite the insides of his cheeks to stop himself from yelping in alarm. His hooded angry eyes, spoke volumes and his vantage height as he towered over Dan didn't help the situation as the
"We had a bargain, Xavier. How could you go back on that!" Mrs. Laura was past Caring as she glared at the grandson of a man she truly cared about and was like a father to her. "I can't just sit pretty in a tux and wear Rolex watches day in, day out entertaining business ideas and implementing few when I know Maya is out there gagged and being tortured," He banged the oak desk in front of him, "Every day is a risk. Every teeny second." "You putting your life in danger, in search of her won't do you any good. That is not even a sensible thing to do especially when you don't know where to look." Mrs. Laura's voice was a monotone, as she appeared unaffected by the wave of emotions in Xavier's eyes. In a black jacket, patterned red and black tracksuit, she was looking the part of a woman who was wearing a business thinking cap. Something she doubted Xavier still wears. She too was concerned about Maya. Heck,
Her body shivered to reveal the fear, the defiance in her eyes tried to hide. Mr. Dominic chuckled, a sadistic pleasure overwhelming him at the thought of how scared of him she was. He would have her eventually but first, he needed to make a few points and had some matters that needed to be taken care of which will break her whole tenacious spirit completely. He'd always loved taming the shrew and the Chase had always thrilled him above other things. "Patience my love," he whispered even as he stood up, ignoring the pure relief that marred Maya's expression, "All good things come to those who wait. But soon I'll have you underneath me, writhing and wanting." She gritted through her teeth, offering him another obscene choice word. He grinned widely, " You have a guest that has been dying to see you. Play nice." She rolled her eyes. That was the l
