Mae’s P.O.V

“No!” Silver said, taking me aback totally and the smile on my face slowly vanished. The urge to slip my fingers through his hair, grab a fistful of it, and pull it off overwhelmed me but what could I do?

Forcing out a smile, I asked. “Why?”

He said blatantly. “Because you are not my mum”

A smile crept at the corner of my lips at that moment even though I was burning in rage. Everything that Elodie had was supposed to be mine, the triplets, and most importantly, Marcel.

Clearing my throat, I straightened, swiveling my gaze around the entire closet. “But it wouldn’t be that bad if you address me as your mum or do you still see me as a stranger”

“You are my friend,” Silver responded, returning the jewelry.

Now that I thought about it, if Marcel and Elodie claimed to be happily married, why did they stay in different rooms? If they loved each other as they claimed, then they should be in the same room.

Darting my eyes back to Silver, I asked. “Do your parents fight?”
