9: Silent Disco

T O W A R D S   T H E   E V E N I N G, just a few blocks away from Natasha’s place, Lucas appeared at the entrance of his uncle Mac’s tech store of the same name.

“Well,” started his uncle, “look who decided to show up.”

“Late football practice,” was Lucas’s response as he set down his school bag next to a shelf packed with Life Cell batteries.

“Naah! Don't mind me,” added his uncle, waving a hand in his direction, “heard you got a scholarship!”

Lucas gave him a nod and noticed that he was putting on a jacket before grabbing the keys to his truck.

“Closing already?”

Uncle Mac grinned and Lucas went on to discover that even the hair on his balding head had been combed.

“Yeah, you can hang around and close up before eight,” his uncle responded and a little bit evasive but Lucas knew where he was going.
