CHAPTER 51

KRISTINA'S POV

My eyes were stinging from unshed tears, but I refused to let them fall. I couldn't cry in front of Nathan and he had already proven he was capable of breaking my heart so why should I risk anything more than necessary?

"I really do," Nathan said softly. "But you might find some other guy that makes you happy."

"I'd rather choose you than anyone else." I replied.

I looked up at him. His face was completely sincere, and there was an intensity in his eyes that I rarely saw directed towards me. It made me feel warm inside to see how much he wanted me. How much he loved me... but how little he knew about himself. It hurt to realize that maybe I didn't need him like I thought I did after all. Not anymore.

"You don't need to choose me. You can make your own decisions, just as you've done all your life. I don't care who you choose to be with because no matter who you date, no matter who loves you, I'll still want you."

He cupped my cheek and smiled gently. The words sent
