Chapter Twenty-Five

“How did you figure it out?” Ella was truly shocked that he had.

“I desired two women simultaneously, which isn't typical of me. I almost had a heart attack watching you eat a strawberry.” Nick leaned in, putting his hands behind her head, pulling the pins out that were holding her bun in place. Letting it fall about her shoulders and down her back to her waist. The ends of her hair hidden in her bun had been untouched by the spray she used, were still the beautiful colour he remembered.

“Lusting after me?” Ella questioned, never having anyone lust after her, not even Stephen. Not with her dressed like this and downplaying her looks.

“Oh yes! You may try to hide yourself behind ….” Sweeping his hand up and down “…this, but you can’t hide the real you. I’m not just talking about your beautiful shell.” Laying his hand on her chest “but what’s in here?”

“Oh..” tears filled her eyes, Ella realised Nick really saw her. “I was so horrible to you the first few times we met after the ball.”
