The sound of the door which was pushed open woke me up. I turned to the door with a startle, and looked up to see his furious eyes on me. Two more men in black suits appeared next to him, and they happened to be his bodyguards.
“Send this woman to the doctor I appointed, and make sure the abortion is done without any complications.” He ordered, and my eyes widened as the two men walked up to me.
“ What do you mean?” I asked, and at the same time, the guards grabbed my arms and began to drag me up.
'' Let go of me! Get your filthy hands off me! Stop this! Damon, please.....'' I screamed, trying to wiggle out of their hold, but their grip on me was too strong.
''You can't do this to innocent kids, Damon. Your babies for goodness’ sake! Please don't do this!''
“Take her away!” He growled, and I could see the hatred in his eyes. All my efforts to free myself from them proved abortive as they dragged me to the car.
I whimpered and shook in fright as I thought about losing my babies. ''What if I die in the process? What if I get horrible complications after this? What would become of me?
Of course, Damon doesn't care. He wouldn't care at all.“
I continued to scream and kick, but to no avail, it all fell on deaf ears. They carried me into the car, and due to the way I struggled to free myself, I accidentally hit my head and blacked out.
When I woke up, I felt my hands and legs tied to something, it was difficult to move. The smell of drugs and drips hit my nostrils and realization dawned on me immediately. I opened my eyes and looked around my surroundings in panic, as my heart beat rapidly.
A nurse who was facing the wall while putting a yellow liquid into an injection turned to me. Immediately she sensed that I was awake.
''Who are you? And where's Damon?'' I asked with a shaky voice, and glanced around the room again.
'' Your husband is waiting for you, Mrs Clark. Just stay still.'' The nurse replied and strode towards me with the needle in her hand.
The colour drained out of my face, and Damon's last words replayed in my head.
“No! No!'' I shook my head uncontrollably, and shivers ran down my spine as I touched my belly.
'' Please, don't do this. They are innocent please. Don't hurt my babies.'' I pleaded, but the nurse wasn't ready to listen.
She took a deep breath and said “I’m sorry Mrs Clerk, but we have orders—“
''This is against my wishes. You can't force me to do what I don't want.''
" Mrs Clark.....“
She was about to say something, but was interrupted by a deep voice which sounded from the door. “Don’t worry, Vivian, you’re done here, I'll handle it.”
I turned to the door immediately, and that's when I saw him. He wore a white doctor's coat, with jet black hair, and a bearded beard.
“Alright sir. I'll take my leave now.'' Vivian said and glanced at me, then quickly head towards the door, while the man walked up to me. I couldn't stop looking at his face. He's very handsome, I must say.
“Hi, I'm doctor Callen Hudson. I'm a medical Doctor. And I want to assure you that you're in safe hands.'' His voice was alluring, like that of my husband. He just reminded me of him.
Instantly, Damon's angry face flashed into my mind, and I cried out in fear.
''Please don't harm my babies, I… I didn’t do anything wrong. I swear he's responsible. I don't know why he's finding it hard to believe me. Please, Doctor Callen, don't hurt my babies.“
I could see the change in his countenance as soon as I said those words. He squinted his eyes and said, “Didn't you two agree on this?”
'' I will never agree to kill my children. They're innocent, and shouldn't be brought into our misunderstanding.'' I responded boldly and Doctor Callen nodded his head. He seemed to be lost in his own thoughts as he stared blankly at the wall. I decided to use that opportunity to give him more reasons not to carry out Damon's order.
I told him about my loveless marriage with Damon, and how he was accusing me of sleeping with someone else as a result of the pregnancy. I also told him about the divorce papers, and my determination to keep my babies.
“Very well then, Mrs Clara.” Callen heaved a deep sigh, and bit his lower lip, then gazed up at me. I gulped down impatiently as I waited for his response, and finally he spoke up, but it wasn't what I expected.
''Seeing how much these babies mean to you, Mrs Clara. I have a proposition for you.''
''Anything please. I will do anything to save my babies.'' My eyes twinkled in excitement, and I almost smiled, but his next words threw me off balance.
''Sign the divorce papers, get married to me and become my wife for 5 years. In return, I’d save your babies and also provide for your necessary needs.''
“Huh?” I gasped, and my brows snapped together.
'' Did you just... Did you just say that I should marry you?'' I stuttered in disbelief, assuming that my ears betrayed me. But when he repeated those words, I froze on the spot.
Damon and I have been married for three years, and although he doesn't like me, I've grown to love him so much. Getting married to a stranger I just met in the hospital, seems extraordinary. But when I thought about my babies and the humiliation I went through in Damon's hands, I was forced to think twice.
I turned my gaze to the wall and tried to ponder on it, but his deep melodious voice interrupted my thoughts and I quickly looked at him.
“So, What do you have to say, Mrs Clara?” His eyes burned into mine, and hesitantly, I muttered.
“Deal!”
CHAPTER 3CALLENIt has been three years since she left. Three years she signed the divorce papers. Three years of my father's worries about finding her, or marry Leah, my new girlfriend. The sound of the phone, which began to ring, interrupted my thoughts, and with a sigh, I picked it up.As usual, it was my father. I rolled my eyes and looked away, before hitting the receive button.“Hello Dad.” I clutched the pen in my hand tightly, as I waited for his scolding again. It baffled me that, at my age, my Dad still treats me like a kid. '' Your girlfriend, Leah, said you haven’t been seeing each other for quite some time now. What are your plans, Damon? Are you still going to mess around?'' He asked and I heaved a long sigh. One thing I noticed about my father is that he thinks that I am fond of sleeping around with different women. That's the reason why I've refused to marry. But what he doesn't know is that I haven't found my heart desire yet. “I told you that the only way to clai
CHAPTER 4FLORA" Let her in." His deep voice sounded in my ears, and sluggishly, I walked inside as the guards gave way. I could see his dark eyes peering into mine, and my body trembled.Kelvin and Alex are very stubborn kids, and at times I pity their mother. If not for how she begged me, I would've resigned from being their Nanny, because these kids can get someone into big trouble." Good - Good day Sir." I stuttered in fright and looked down immediately, to avoid his gaze. Alex and Kelvin kept pleading, and I wondered if the monstrous looking man would listen." What is your name?" His question made me look at him, but I quickly adverted my gaze again.'' My name is Flora. Flora Jones. Please sir, I understand that you're angry about what happened. Please, temper justice with mercy. They're just kids, they don't know what they're doing. Please forgive them, forgive us.'' I put my hands together and went on my knees, summoning courage to look at his face this time. That's when I
CLARAMy heart beat against my chest as I stared at the pregnancy test in my hand, while pacing around the room in panic. The more I thought about my husband's arrival, the scarier I got, and I wondered for a moment what he would do when he learn of this.Just like the universe heard me, the door creeped open and angry looking eyes gazed up at me, sending shivers down my spine.“What are you doing here?” His deep voice echoed in the room, and I froze on the spot, unable to say a word. " Didn't I warn you to stay away from my room, huh?''His jaw tightened as he entered the room and shut the door behind him. That's when I found my voice, and I mustered courage to speak up.“I… I have something to tell you.” I stuttered, holding onto the paper tightly as his eyes darted to my hands. There was silence as I awaited his response, while he strode to the window, rolling the sleeve of his shirt up to his arm. He stood beside the table and loosened up his wristwatch.'' I don’t have all the ti
