Chapter 10 Violet's pov

After the handsome man left my room his lovely scent still lingered in the air. I headed to the bathroom to wash my tear-stained face and was glad the bruise on my cheek was gone. I brushed out my hair to a shine and decided to find 412 to see if I could help with anything. I unlocked and opened my door sniffing the air for my stepbrother. I didn't smell his offensive odor and headed quickly to the kitchen. 412 had just arrived and was ordering the kitchen staff. She saw me and smiled.

"Can you cook, dear? 523 is ill and she's responsible for the meat prep," she groans.

I nodded and told her that I enjoyed cooking and could make fried or roast chicken. She sighed in relief and told the others that we would be having fried chicken for dinner and to start preparing the sides. 412 handed me an apron and steered me toward the pantry.
