CHAPTER 33

KAHLAN AND SANDINO

I didn't think it would be so hard to climb a ladder to the second floor. Turns out I was wrong, not taking into account that I was clumsy and slightly afraid of heights. By the time I had reached the second floor window, I froze.

"What's going on?" Sandino asked from below me. He was right on my heels the entire time. I cleared my throat.

"I'm afraid to let go of the ladder..." I said softly. He chuckled.

"Seriously? This was your idea... You didn't think this through did you?" I didn't respond. And when I didn't, Sandino showed he was a little concerned for me. "Just use one hand and push it open. It's just a simple push." He spoke as if he knew the window would be unlocked. I did as he said, moving extremely slow and with caution. One push. As soon as the doubled window opened, I quickly climbed in. Sandino called himself being helpful as he gave me a little push with his hand to my butt. I waited till we were both inside before bringing it up.
