CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

BODYGUARDS??...

Lilliana didn't sleep very well that night, even with her whole body wrapped in Damon's warm embrace. Her mind stubbornly refused to let go of the incident, making her feel as though she was still in the racing car. Her sleep was constantly interrupted by the frightening images of fires, her mother's bloody lifeless body accompanied by screams and sobs that kept flashing behind her closed eyelids. She kept hearing the loud ringing of sirens in her ears that would go quiet and fade away whenever the girl was startled awake. But by dawn, calm had returned to her mind and she could finally sleep peacefully until lunchtime.

“Lilly??” the girl groaned, shaken awake by Damon and pushed the covers from over her head revealing her tired face. Her eyes slightly open, dazed by sleep. She slowly blinked them wide open to adjust to the bright light coming in her room through the curtains and sat up straight.

Damon let out a soft amused chuckle, sitting on the bed next to the girl
