That night, Adonis called Mary into his study and informed her that he would be going on a business trip.

“Don’t worry, I would be back before you leave”.

Mary wished she could tell him to his face that she did not care if he came back of if he decided to leave there forever.

“You just have to take good care of my grandmother while I am away, and please do try to understand and bear with her, she is just an old lady”.

Mary tried her best to maintain her cool and not to burst out as a result of the anger burning in her heart.

“Is that all you have to say” Mary snapped. Adonis quickly raised his head in shock to look at her.

“Because I need to get something done for your grandmother, we do not want her lashing out at me again do we?” She added as an after thought, after all he was aware of his grandmother’s over bearing attitude towards her.

“It’s fine” he finally said with hoarse voice, “you can go attend to my grandmother”.
