STUCK WITH OLIVER

OLIVER'S POV

I was standing at the altar, directly opposite the officiating priest. I had been standing for close to 45 minutes, and the bride was not forthcoming.

Different imaginations played through my mind. I just hoped what I was thinking wasn't the case. She couldn't have ditched me at the altar.

No no no.... It's just 45 minutes. Be calm Oliver. She wouldn't do that. She wouldn't drag our families' name to the mud. I tried so hard convincing myself.

*News headline*

Popular Billionaire Bachelor Oliver Grants, jilted at the altar.......

No no no, I would be totally and completely done for. I definitely wouldn't hear the end of it from Eva. I would be the talk of town!!!

She wouldn't do that to me, would she? She hates me. She's still mad at me? It's been two weeks since I last saw her, and that was when I dropped her off at home. I didn't even see her a day to the wedding.

Did i make a mistake by accepting this marriage deal? Fuck!!!. I could have simply refused this shit from the start.

Was i stupid or what? Lois clearly has no love interest in me, talk more of being able to Co exist with me under one roof for just a whole day.

What the hell!!! Breath Oliver breath.

A familiar face caught my eye from the side, as I turned to see her. It was Harrieth.

She walked gently towards where Mum and Aunt Debbie sat. Then she bent and whispered something to them.

She looked a little bit worried. I hope it's not what I'm thinking. Mum and Aunt Debbie looked at each other, and then smiled at Harrieth.

Pheeew. I let out a shaky breath. They smiled. That's a good sign. I knew Lois wouldn’t jilt me. I just knew it. Keep fooling yourself. My subconscious mocked me.

Aunt Debbie stood up and walked out with Harrieth, trailing behind. After five minutes, I heard the Piano.

That all too familiar sound was being played. It sounded much more wonderful in my ears today, because it felt like a miracle to me, at that point in time.

I turned around again just to see a really beautiful Lois walking gracefully towards me, hand in hand with her father and  her veil covered her face. I heaved a low sigh, as I quickly took note of her so very white gown. It made her look so.... so Pure and.... Innocent.

Yes! Pure was the right word. I really didn't know much about women's fashion, but I knew for a fact that the dress she was putting on was a killer. As she drew closer, I noticed her hand which firmly held her bouquet, was shaking.

It wasn't quite obvious, but I noticed it. She was nervous. But she was still going ahead with this.

She didn't jilt me at the altar and I was really grateful for that. But that was the moment I realized one thing. That today, I would be signing away my entire life to this woman in front of me. It dawned heavily on me.

Lois' pov

He was standing right there at the altar. He had been waiting for me. I had imagined walking down the aisle to meet nobody.

But he was there.

I felt a sudden pang of guilt in my heart, for even having the slightest thought of ditching him. He didn't deserve to be humiliated that way.

He would never forgive me, had I disrespected him that way. I'm glad I didn't, and also sad that I didn't. It took mum's comforting and encouraging words to get me out of the car, when we reached the church.

The minute Harrieth noticed my hesitation, she quickly went in to get mum. I was scared. I feared Oliver wouldn't turn up. Even after I was reassured that Oliver was present, I was still unsure.

Seeing him at the altar brought great relief to my mind. When I finally arrived the Altar, Dad kissed my sweaty palms and squeezed my hand supportively, before giving my hand to Oliver, who took my tiny hand in his.

He smiled with a look in his eyes. It was relief and something else. Appreciation. Why was he thankful?

"You showed up" he whispered. I immediately eyed him, which caused a chuckle from him.

"Of course, I would. It's my damn wedding!" I whisper yelled.

"Well....well, I thought you would jilt me at the altar" he said with a sombre look on his face. Explains the appreciative look. I wasn't the only one who was scared, He was too.

"And I thought I would too. Almost did. But I didn't. And I'm here now" I whispered, with my head bowed in an apologetic manner.

He smiled now. "You look gorgeous by the way"

I smiled my thanks.

"Brethren!" The priest's voice interrupted. "We are all here present, for the joining in holy matrimony of............."

"Do you Oliver Grants take thee Lois MacDonalds, as your lawfully wedded wife, to respect and to hold. To love and to cherish. In sickness and in health. For richer and for Poorer, till death do you part?"

"Yes, I do" Came his immediate reply which after he slipped the ring on my finger.

"Do you Lois MacDonalds take thee Oliver Grants as your lawfully wedded husband. To respect and to hold. To love and to Cherish. In sickness and in health. For richer and for poorer, till death do you part?"

'Till death do you part'.

It replayed faster in my heart.

It sounded Louder in head.

And then it became clearer in my mind.

I had anticipated this moment for two weeks now. But it never felt so real. I was completely giving away my whole life to this Man.

I looked towards the congregation, I saw the faces of everyone. They were all waiting to hear an 'I do' from me.

My palms were clammy with sweat and I could swear that my heart was beating louder than a bass drum. I had never been so nervous. I was fidgeting as I swallowed the huge lump in my throat.

It had never been so real. Now I realize the fact that I'm stuck with this man for the rest of my life.

I'm Stuck with Oliver.
