Harriet’s Point of View

“I love you, Harriet.”

With those words from my mate, I felt as though a weight had been lifted from my weary shoulders.

The dark clouds of my troubled thoughts dissipated like melting snow, leaving behind a sense of sheer relief that sent a fresh flow of tears streaming down my cheeks as he embraced me with his arms that provided safe haven in the storm of my tears.

My sobs gradually subsided, my tears drying up as I found comfort in Lucas's comforting presence as I looked at him.

"You can't go back," he whispered. "Your life will be in danger once you return."

My voice trembled as I replied, "I know. I know that."
