“Do we really need all these?” I grumbled when Luna Evelyn added another handful of baby items into the cart.“Of course we do,” she beamed, rubbing her palms together and scanning the mall for more things to buy. “Aha,” she raised one finger in the air, pointing at something else. Before I could turn fully to see what it was she had seen, she dashed in the direction she’d pointed. I rolled my eyes and wheeled the cart to the check out point. There were about six people before me, but they stepped out of the way for me to go ahead of them with warm smiles on their faces. I thanked them and when the cashier looked up and saw me, she all but got out frantically from her seat, signaling another of her colleague to come help her out to hasten the calculations so I could leave. I’d gotten a phone amongst other things, but I wasn’t freaked about it. I guess I’d gotten used to not having one.“Luna Aria,” her colleague summoned the courage to speak directly to me, and I saw the other gir
I tapped on the door once, and without waiting for a reply, I barged into his office. Slade had a man by his collar, lifted mid-air, his legs thrashing in the air. He released the man as soon as he saw me, straightening to his full height while the man scurried to escape from the alpha. “I-I didn’t know you were coming,” he rolled his sleeves down slowly, buttoning one after another carefully. I’d not visited his office in a long time, and I noticed nothing had changed since I was last here. My desk still remained the way I’d left it at the far end of his office. The only difference was the untidy state of his own desk. It wasn’t unusual for his desk to be scattered with a lot of paper work, but there were more files on his desk than usual. I wonder how he can deal with all of this and still find time to look into Sapphire and Lennox’s whereabouts.I’d noticed more freedom now than before. He passed a strict warning to every member of Dark Wolf that I wasn’t allowed out of the pack
I went to see Allegra the next day. She was beside her table, as usual, mixing some potions, and the stench hung in the air. Her eyes darted up to meet mine as soon as I entered and she smiled warmly at me.“Luna Aria,” she says smiling “I was expecting you,”“Allegra,” I greeted casually, leaning against the door as soon as I shut it close. Slade had not opposed to me coming to see Allegra this time as was the case in the past. He even had Marcel drive me here because he was tied up with pack matters. They were preparing for war. After our conversation yesterday, he’d assembled the warriors and had a talk with them. Lennox used to be the head warrior and now that he had betrayed them, Marcel and another guy whose name I still haven’t gotten a hold of were to lead the training. He’d warned against traitors, and promised death to whoever is caught. After what happened, I know his trust level even for members of his pack dwindled, but Slade had everything under control. He does it
I rolled on my side and opened my eyes slowly, feeling the bed to find Slade’s side empty. He was still sleeping in the other room, but I had a feeling he’d not come to the penthouse the night before. He must have been engrossed in all the trainings and all the work he’d pushed over while he was with me at the hospital.I groaned, pulling myself up with one hand on my stomach. When my eyes met the clock, I gasped. It was almost midday. I hurried to take a bath, determined to go to the training field to watch the warriors train, but Gwyn came bearing my food first. “Good Morning Aria. I came earlier but you were still fast asleep,” she smiled at me. I thanked her and we made little talks about what has been happening in the pack. I resolved to join the others in the kitchen to prepare the meals for those in training, but Gwyn told me the alpha wanted to see me first. I dressed up casually and went to his office. His workers were busy but they stopped to greet me and acknowledge my
SLADEMaybe I deserve everything that is happening to me. I should have seen it from the start, I should have known that Sapphire will be the one to turn her back and raise an army against a pack I have built till this point. My wolf tried to warn me about her severally, but I never listened, I was led by my flesh.I am not a man to regret my actions but Sapphire has to be one of the worse decisions I ever made in my life. I got carried away by her deceptive smiles. I know for a fact that she’d loved me at some point and I even found out that she was obsessed with the idea of being with me. But she is psycho to think she stands a chance becoming my Luna. She carries Daryl’s mark for crying out loud. There’s no way she can bear any other man’s mark, and there is no way she can be my luna. Certainly she is smart enough to know that.I wasn’t surprised that she’d set Daryl up. In fact, I had thought about that before my mate brought it up. My sweet Aria. She is growing. She’s a smart lad
ARIA I waited for Slade to come back from the training ground. He’ll be tired I know, but it is about time I talked with him. I heard him come into the living room, then secure the locks. I waited for him at the door of the room he’s been occupying, and he looked surprised to see me waiting there for him. “Why are you still awake by this time, Aria?” He scolded. “You sound like my father,” I pouted playfully. He had huge eye bags from stress and lack of sleep, and I had the urge to just wrap my arms around him and fall into bed with him. “It’s my duty to take care of you,” he says sternly. “We should talk,” I grabbed his arms, pulling him gently into the master bedroom instead of the room he’d been about to enter. I hate that we had to sleep apart. Xaria hated it, and who am I deceiving? I missed him. I missed his scent in the room. He was picking out his items from the closet one after the other as I noticed earlier in the day. I don’t think I want to spend this night away from h
Audrey kept true to her words. She was blending into the pack and even making friends with the pack members. She was punctual to the training grounds too and it seemed like there was no talking her out of it. Truth is, if I wasn’t carrying this child, I’d have wanted to be a part of the training too, but Slade will hear nothing of it, and the last thing I want to do is put my child in harm’s way. I was daily exercising, and doing all the things the doctor asked, but I could only sit back and watch the others train.I did speak to my dad after my mom’s revelation, and he’d promised to come over to Dark Wolf. We didn’t have much to say over the phone, but I know my mom was right when he said she felt guilty. Things between Slade and I were going better than it has in the last months. He was more relaxed and laughed more than he used to, but there was that awkwardness whenever the topic of his birthday was bought up. So far, no one knew the curse had been broken, and he wanted to keep i
I found him at his front porch, dishing out orders to two guards. The two men were constantly nodding at what he was saying. I thanked the driver before stepping out of the vehicle. Alpha Hance turned in my direction, dismissing the guards with a wave of his hands. The guards bowed and left. I approached him with caution. I never visited the former Alpha’s abode without an invitation, but I wasn’t going to wait for him to send for me before getting this off my chest. “Aria,” he smiled, crossing his hands behind his back “I knew you’d come see me. Come,” he led me into the house. There was no sign of Luna Evelyn, but I assumed she was very much within the premise.“Take a seat,” he pointed at a chair, the same chair I’d sat in the last time I visited “You want a drink?” He asked with a smile on his face. He was being nice, but I didn’t come for formalities, I wasn’t here to be friendly with him.“I think I’ll rather stand,” I say coldly. He turned to me, the smile wiped off his face
