SEVENTY-SIX

“Do we really need all these?” I grumbled when Luna Evelyn added another handful of baby items into the cart.

“Of course we do,” she beamed, rubbing her palms together and scanning the mall for more things to buy. “Aha,” she raised one finger in the air, pointing at something else. Before I could turn fully to see what it was she had seen, she dashed in the direction she’d pointed.

I rolled my eyes and wheeled the cart to the check out point. There were about six people before me, but they stepped out of the way for me to go ahead of them with warm smiles on their faces. I thanked them and when the cashier looked up and saw me, she all but got out frantically from her seat, signaling another of her colleague to come help her out to hasten the calculations so I could leave. I’d gotten a phone amongst other things, but I wasn’t freaked about it. I guess I’d gotten used to not having one.

It's a good story but I am not sure I am all for slate and her being together. I am glad she is strong though she is not a weak character.
