I blinked once. Twice.

I racked my brain as I watched Kane, trying to make sense of what he’d just said and why he wasn’t telling me it was a poor attempt at a joke since he wasn’t one to crack jokes.

“You’re serious?” I raised a brow at him and received a frown in response. I scoffed and got up from the bed, maybe I hadn’t heard him clearly, maybe he didn’t just accuse me of making Caden lie about the curse.

“Just so I understand, you’re telling me right now, that Caden said I put him up to this?” Kane’s silence told me I was right, and that was in fact what he’d just said.

“Where is he? Where’s Caden? I need to hear him say those words with my ears because this is by far the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard all week, and you know very well I’ve heard a lot of ridiculous things this week.” I released a breath and placed a hand on my chest.
