Chapter Forty

Maya POV

The well-lighted mansion greeted me as i stood outside the front of the house, my hands curled around my sides as the cold air swept through gently. It was a little after seven p.m. and the place was already dark and the half moon shining bright in the sky.

“This is where we would be staying for the next couple of days,” Lucas stated from beside me. He had taken off his jacket and hung it over his shoulders while Malcolm stood out in the back while on the phone, he caught my gaze and said a few words before ending the call. He walked up beside me and I cleared my throat while staring at the house again.

“Is this where we are staying?” I asked even though i knew the answer.

“Of course-” Lucas began to answer but was cut short by Malcolm who turned to the both of us, his eyes fixated on me.

“Not anymore, we’re moving into a hotel.” Lucas mouth dropped and he turned to me and then back to Malcolm.
