"Scarlett I-I..." Christian stammered, looking for the right words to say without angering his girlfriend further. He couldn't imagine rubbing salt into a wound that was fresh and open.

"You had days, weeks, Christian, you had all the time to tell me the truth." Isabelle chuckled and shook her head in disbelief.

She looked at the stars past Christian's tall frame. They thrived and twinkled in the darkness; they didn't allow the darkness of the night to dictate their light. Isabelle wished she could stay happy even when, at that moment, it felt like she was being submerged into unending darkness.

"I didn't want you to leave Belle." He flailed his hands, his voice breaking as he looked at his girlfriend. She refuses to look at him to see the authenticity in his eyes.

"I deserved to know Chris." She whispered, blinking back the tears that threatened to form.
