Chapter 62

"Go away." Isabelle mumbled into the sheets when her bedroom door was knocked. It was late in the evening, hours after the fallout between her and Christian. She had quietly asked Christian to take her home and to leave her alone. Her phone hadn't stopped ringing; at some point she had to turn it off.

"Can I come in, please?" She groaned when Christian's voice seeped through the door. She picked up a pillow and covered her head, face down on the mattress.

"Isabelle." He called again, adding another annoyingly loud knock. She whined again, squeezing her eyes tightly. She forgot that she hadn't locked the door; she only realized when she heard the knob turning and light footsteps. "I'm so sorry, Isabelle; I should have believed you without an ounce of doubt."

Christian sat on the edge of the bed, looking over at his girlfriend, who held the pillow over her head tightly. Isabelle felt like she was suffocating under the material, but she didn't want to see Christian. She let out a loud
